Most known for The Wobblies, Academy Award winning filmmaker Deborah Shaffer began making social issue documentaries as a member of the Newsreel collective in the '70s. She directed one of the first post-September 11th films, From the Ashes: 10 Artists, followed by From the Ashes: Epilogue, which chronicle Tribeca and downtown Manhattan artists' reactions to 9/11. Featuring Laurie Anderson, Skip Blumberg, Lisa Corinne Davis, Barbara Friedman, Jane Hammond, Tony Nunziata, Pat Oleszko, Joseph Rodriguez, Oscar Santiago, and Shahzia Sikander.
